Sri Lanka is a little gem beneath India! …and it’s full of gems — the people type and the treasure type! So, if you’re looking to buy jewelry that makes you feel like a royal queen (or king), then I suggest you visit Sri Lanka. It’s also a great place to visit if you’re into multiple cultures living harmoniously together (like me), and if you are, then go and bask with the happy Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Jews on the beach (Maldive-ians come here for vacation = Sri Lanka is an amazing beach destination)!
It’s really a treat for The F SHOW to have had the opportunity to represent the different cultures in the Sri Lankan interview series (there’s magic in seeing a united melting-pot)! The F SHOW had 5 incredible female millennial entrepreneurs that represented the full spectrum.
The F SHOW had the honor to interview the founders of: the first eco (upcycle)-friendly fashion designer at House of Lonali; the first jewelry e-commerce site, Glitteray; one of the first eco-friendly hotels at Saraii Village; and two of the country’s app developing companies in the country Cinnamon and Square Mobile. A little bit about them: they all had presence, grit, and tender strength. What a combination of women!
I bet right about now, you’re wondering what exactly Josh and I ate in Sri Lanka. I’ll indulge you. We ate the most amazing thing ever: kottu (the food staple). We also caved in and ate KFC. It was yum (these cravings happen)! No judging.
Besides food, Josh and I decided it was time to groom ourselves (it had been months of travel) and we went to get haircuts, manicures, and pedicures (unlike the time inMyanmar, my toe nails were not clipped to the point where I was concerned about getting gangrene)! It was refreshing and just in time to celebrate the new year to the tune of Spanish songs (for whatever reason, the DJ at the new year’s party played La Bamba)! Awesome.
A special thanks goes to Harshi (co-founder at Square Mobile) as well! Without her the interview coordination and connections could not have been made! Another special thanks goes to Sam for introducing The F SHOW to the fabulous Sri Lankan female millennial entrepreneur community, for hosting an interesting and delicious entrepreneur dinner (we forgot to take a picture), and finally for lending us his office space at Wizma Global Education.
